We're looking for an experienced, results-driven Senior Email Marketing & Retention Manager who can take full ownership of our email marketing channelfrom strategy and copywriting to lifecycle automation, segmentation, testing, and revenue growth.
The Mission
Own and grow email marketing as a profitable, predictable revenue channel.
We need someone who thinks strategically, executes independently, and knows how to turn customer insights into high-performing email campaigns and automated flows.
You won't simply follow a campaign calendar. You'll create the strategy, identify opportunities, write compelling copy, organize execution, and continuously improve results.
Key Responsibilities
1. Own the Email Marketing Strategy
Develop and execute a comprehensive email marketing and retention strategy.
Build monthly and quarterly email marketing plans aligned with revenue targets, promotions, launches, and customer behavior.
Identify opportunities to improve repeat purchases, customer lifetime value, and retention.
Analyze performance and proactively recommend improvements.
Take full accountability for email-attributed revenue and channel performance.
2. Email Copywriting & Campaign Execution
Write persuasive, conversion-focused email copy, including subject lines, preview text, headlines, and body copy.
Develop compelling angles based on customer pain points, motivations, objections, and buying behavior.
Create and manage the email marketing calendar.
Coordinate with designers to bring campaigns to life and ensure timely launches.
Continuously test creative angles, messaging, subject lines, and offers.
3. Lifecycle Marketing & Automated Flows
Audit, build, organize, and optimize the complete customer email journey.
Own welcome, abandoned checkout, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase, cross-sell, replenishment, win-back, and customer loyalty flows.
Create personalized journeys based on customer behavior, purchase history, and lifecycle stage.
Identify automation opportunities that generate incremental revenue.
Continuously improve flow conversion rates and revenue.
4. Attentive & Customer Segmentation
Be highly proficient in Attentive, including campaigns, journeys, segmentation, reporting, and testing.
Build advanced customer segments using purchase history, engagement, product interest, and customer behavior.
Improve targeting and personalization to deliver the right message to the right customer.
Maintain strong list health, deliverability, and engagement.
Understand email compliance and consent requirements.
5. AI-Driven Marketing & Optimization
Use AI tools to accelerate research, campaign ideation, copywriting, analysis, and workflow development.
Build efficient AI-assisted processes without sacrificing quality or brand voice.
Leverage AI to identify customer insights, generate creative variations, and improve personalization.
Continuously explore new tools and methods to improve productivity and campaign effectiveness.
6. Performance Analysis & Revenue Growth
Track email revenue, revenue per recipient, conversion rates, click rates, and flow performance.
Run structured A/B tests and turn learnings into measurable improvements.
Deliver weekly performance reports with clear insights and next actions.
Proactively identify underperforming campaigns and flows.
Work closely with the e-commerce and creative teams to improve overall customer retention.
Who We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
4+ years of hands-on email marketing experience with DTC/e-commerce brands.
Direct experience managing email marketing for brands generating 5M50M in annual revenue.
Proven ability to independently own email strategy, copywriting, segmentation, and lifecycle marketing.
Advanced proficiency in Attentive is required.
Excellent direct-response copywriting skills, with a strong understanding of consumer psychology and conversion.
Experience building and optimizing complex automated email journeys.
Strong analytical skills and experience using email performance data to drive decisions.
Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve marketing output and efficiency.
Experience collaborating with designers and e-commerce teams.
Ability to prioritize independently, manage deadlines, and deliver measurable results.

Complete a comprehensive audit of our email marketing program and identify revenue opportunities.
Develop a clear email strategy, campaign calendar, and testing roadmap.
Audit, organize, and improve priority automated email flows.
Establish an effective segmentation strategy.
Consistently deliver high-quality, conversion-focused campaigns on schedule.
Build a performance dashboard and weekly reporting process.
Demonstrate measurable improvements in email performance against agreed baselines.
Key Performance Indicators
Your performance will be measured by:
Email-attributed revenue growth
Revenue per recipient
Automated flow revenue and conversion performance
Campaign conversion and click-through rates
