Position Summary
The Senior Program Manager (Data) will provide executive-level leadership and guide Bottomline’s journey into the “Data First” culture. This individual will have a deep understanding of data platforms, emerging technologies specific to Data (A.I, Machine learning & Data Science), experience implementing large scale data initiatives in on-prem/cloud scenarios, a deep understanding of executive-level program management and provide the required leadership and guidance to the execution team. This individual will be a leader in providing organizational direction and alignment to our business and data strategy.
This individual demonstrates leadership within the organization in that they develop partnerships with stakeholders across the organization on their respective projects, can mentor others, develop, and form strong teams, and achieve successful results. The individual recognizes key stakeholders in a project and demonstrates that he or she can work with those stakeholders to drive a program to a successful conclusion. He or she recognizes the landscape within an organization that can influence a project and demonstrates the ability to work within the constraints of or influence organization dynamics to ensure the success of projects.
As an effective communicator, the individual is capable of presenting information on strategic subjects in a concise and measured manner. The individual can influence others, manage conflict effectively, and tailor his or her communication to the needs of the target audience. This leader is tenacious and driven toward results but able to communicate his or her expectations in a fluid and collaborative way.
The individual applies his or her knowledge of program leadership to further organizational goals specific to data programs. He or she has deep understanding of the principles of global program management and interacts with project managers to complete programs successfully. In addition, the individual understands the economic dimension of projects and how costs influence the available choices for technology. Furthermore, the individual is effective at refining program requirements from both a technical and a business perspective. He or she is well-qualified to design, create, maintain, and verify varied operational models. As necessary, he or she can effectively refine program and/or project goals and the tactics necessary to achieve those goals as the program develops.
The individual is well-versed with current architectural, data & cloud best practices and can apply them across a breadth of technologies to help guide the technical team a solution. He or she can proactively identify roadblocks or program interruptions, communicates them proactively, and helps the team drive to a resolution using strategic creativity. He or she can articulate their views on the future development of a technology and understands the interaction between infrastructure and solution architecture. The candidate uses these insights to build a global data program to enable the business as a senior leader. The individual also demonstrates the ability to quickly assimilate information about new technologies and new process strategies.
How You’ll Contribute
- Provide global program thought leadership across a portfolio of data products as well as across the organization.
- Develop program budget, program governance, and total program lifecycle processes and introduce them across the organization.
- Leads decisions and influences decision makers on best ways to adopt cloud strategy to the company’s advantage
- Champion structure, process, best practices, and standards
- Promote data strategy concepts and adoption paradigms
- Explain business strategy to architects and technical teams
- Know the data product road map for relevant software vendors and internal to Bottomline
- Partner with the four primary teams – Business, Security & Governance, Platform & Operations, People transformation and drive strategy.
- Regularly review ongoing implementations for opportunities for improvement including weekly status updates.
- Review designs with an understanding the impact and application of regulatory and internal policies (e.g. FFIEC, HIPAA, SLAs)
- Demonstrate and champion architectural and design best practices and patterns in data products
- Regularly participate in all parts of our data strategy and other global programs
- Actively mentor others
What Will Make You Successful
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field or equivalent experience
- Deep experience in a technical project and program management role
- Previous experience leading big data, data science, machine learning, data & analytics projects and programs
- PgMP, PMI, PMP credentialed
- Demonstrable delivery of multiple complex programs
- Excellent program & project management skills
- A strong background in all modern cloud concepts and solutions
- Strong understanding of security, reliability, scalability, high availability, and concurrency architectural patterns and solutions and how they apply to a data program.
- Expert at large program budget management
- Expert at driving results across teams and stakeholders
- Excellent coordination skills utilizing all resources across projects and teams
- Influential speaker and an expert in designing and delivering presentations
- Ability to quickly evaluate and assimilate information about new technologies
- Effective listener and observer
- Proficient at communicating to different audiences across the organization
