Senior Node.js developer

Dataforest is looking for a Senior Node.js Engineer to join an impactful software development project in the field of Cybersecurity.

About the Project: Work on an innovative AI-powered identity fraud detection platform. This real-time anti-fraud system determines whether an account is being accessed by its legitimate owner or an unauthorized party attempting to gain accessprotecting businesses from financial loss and reputational risks.

About the Role: We are seeking a highly autonomous Senior Node.js Specialist (5+ years of experience) who can take complete ownership of technical solutionsfrom initial architecture and database design to client-facing communication.
In this role, you won't just follow tickets. You will analyze raw business requirements, design scalable backend microservices, write clean RESTful APIs, and interact directly with international stakeholders to shape product specifications.

You'll be a great fit if you have:
5+ years of commercial backend engineering experience using Node.js and TypeScript.
Frameworks: Deep hands-on experience with Express, Fastify, or NestJS.
Databases & Data Handling: Practical experience with relational (PostgreSQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB) databases, asynchronous patterns, and data-intensive logic.
AWS: Strong skills in Docker containerization and provisioning AWS cloud infrastructure.
Testing: Proficiency with Jest (unit testing, mocking data layers, achieving 80%+ coverage).
English Level: C1 (Fluent) mandatory for direct client negotiation, requirement gathering, and technical alignment.
High Ownership & Autonomy: Proven ability to work with incomplete requirements, make sound architectural decisions, and defend tech stacks independently.

Will be a plus:
AI-assisted development workflow (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) paired with the ability to deeply explain and defend generated architectural and code choices.
Experience in Cybersecurity, digital forensics, or identity access management systems.

What you'll do:
End-to-End Ownership: Drive backend features from concept to production-grade deployment, defining RESTful API design, database strategy, and cloud deployment pipelines.
Requirements & Client Engagement: Communicate directly with international client teams to clarify edge cases, form specifications, and propose architectural trade-offs.
Backend & API Architecture: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, asynchronous RESTful APIs using modern Node.js frameworks (Express, Fastify, or NestJS).
Infrastructure: Package services into production-grade Docker containers, provision AWS infrastructure.
Testing & Quality Assurance: Maintain strong test coverage (80%+) using Jest, ensuring robust business logic validation, mocked data access, and clean code principles.
